Loudest Voice on the Dial
Alicia arrived at Copperline in 2011 with a shoebox of demo tapes and a question — could a volunteer get ten minutes on air? Thirteen years later she holds the station’s biggest slot: weeknights plus the legendary Saturday all-night party, five hours with no repeats.
Before radio she spent eight years behind the counter of a record shop, which explains both her encyclopaedic knowledge of B-sides and her absolute refusal to judge anyone’s taste. Pub-quiz champion three years running, she brings the same competitive joy to the Guilty Pleasure Trial — callers defend a mocked hit, the night’s jury votes, and acquittals are celebrated like cup finals.
Off air she runs the station’s school visits programme, teaching teenagers to cut tape, ride faders and argue about choruses. Her proudest stat: eleven former students now hold slots of their own.
